US regulator owns almost 200,000 bitcoins
The US government currently owns about 198,000 bitcoins BTC $117,957.21 Bitcoin 1.55% Market capitalization $2.35 trillion VOL. 24 hours $1.67 billion , and has not recently sold any of these assets. This is evidenced by open blockchain data analyzed by specialized companies that track large cryptocurrency transactions.
Most of these bitcoins were confiscated in the course of various criminal investigations, including those related to illegal marketplaces and fraudulent schemes. A significant portion of the assets were obtained as a result of high-profile cases, such as the closure of the Silk Road platform.
Analysts note that there have been no new bitcoin sales transactions from addresses belonging to the US government recently. This has caused some speculation in the market about possible future sales that could affect the price of the first cryptocurrency.
The storage of such a large amount of digital assets by the US government adds additional uncertainty for market participants, as the potential sale of even a part of this portfolio could be a significant trigger for volatility.
So far, the US government has not announced its intention to sell its cryptocurrency reserves, but the market is closely monitoring all movements of these assets and their possible impact on the situation in the crypto industry.
