Hackers stole 969% more cryptocurrencies in November than in October

1:39 pm, December 2, 2025

In November 2025, losses from hacker attacks in the crypto industry rose sharply to $ 194.27 million. This is 969% more than in October, when losses amounted to $ 18.18 million. According to analytical company PeckShield, about 15 large-scale hacks were recorded during the month, which significantly affected both the decentralized finance market and centralized exchanges.

The largest incident occurred with the Balancer v2 protocol and its forks. The total losses exceeded $ 137.4 million, of which about $ 39 million was recovered. The exploit allowed the attackers to withdraw liquidity from the pools, which caused a chain effect in the DeFi segment.

The South Korean exchange Upbit lost $ 36 million after unauthorized withdrawal of funds from a hot wallet on the Solana network. The exchange confirmed the hack and temporarily suspended operations to check security. Another $ 9 million was stolen from the Yearn Finance protocol, where hackers attacked the yETH index product. The vulnerability made it possible to withdraw assets in a single transaction.

Additionally, the loss of about $ 4.95 million from the liquidity provider on the Hyperliquid exchange and an attack on the GANA project on the BNB Smart Chain network, which resulted in the theft of $ 3.1 million, were recorded. The stolen assets moved quickly between different blockchains, making them difficult to track.

Earlier, the Hacken report said that in the first half of 2025, the total losses of the crypto industry from hacking exceeded $ 3 billion. Analysts note that the scale of attacks is growing amid the activity of hacker groups and the complexity of the architecture of DeFi projects. This underscores the need to implement more robust cybersecurity standards to mitigate risks in the future.
