Astronomers warned of a rare planetary eclipse that will take place for the second time in the history of the Universe

Turkey has announced the launch of serial production of the new TAYFUN Block 4 hypersonic ballistic missile. This was announced on February 15 by defense analyst Turan Oguz and later confirmed by ROKETSAN CEO Murat Ikincı on Habertürk TV channel. Thus, the program is moving from the testing phase to industrial production, which significantly enhances Turkey’s capabilities in the field of long-range precision strike systems.

The first tests of the TAYFUN base missile in 2022 showed a range of more than 560 km, making it the farthest missile developed in Turkey. Experts estimate that the Block 4 modification is capable of exceeding 1,000 km, depending on the configuration of the warhead. This opens up the possibility of striking strategic targets at long distances.

Technically, the TAYFUN Block 4 differs from previous versions by an improved solid fuel engine with an increased thrust-to-weight ratio, which provides hypersonic speed and the ability to fly along a low trajectory. This profile reduces the enemy’s reaction time and complicates the operation of missile defense systems. The cruising speed of the missile exceeds Mach 5, and the warhead can be either high-explosive or specialized to destroy fortified objects.

In terms of guidance, the Block 4 has a combination of an inertial system and satellite correction, which increases the accuracy of the kill. According to analysts, the missile may have a maneuvering unit or aerodynamic surfaces to correct the trajectory in the final part of the flight. This makes it much more difficult to intercept by modern air defense systems such as Patriot or S-400.

Strategically, the serial production of the TAYFUN Block 4 means that Turkey joins a limited number of states that possess hypersonic strike systems. The missile will be deployed on mobile launchers, which ensures the survivability of the complex and increases resistance to counterattacks. For Ankara, this is not only a technological breakthrough, but also a political signal of readiness to defend national interests with its own high-tech means.
