10:00 am, July 17, 2026

The payment company Stripe, in partnership with the investment firm Advent International, has made an offer to acquire PayPal. The estimated value of the deal is $ 53.4 billion.

Under the terms of the proposal, both companies will become equal co-owners of PayPal, each receiving an equal stake in the business.

PayPal is one of the largest players in the digital payments market. As of the end of 2025, the service had approximately 440 million active accounts, and the total volume of payments processed reached approximately $ 1.8 trillion.

Stripe is also posting strong results: $ 1.9 trillion passed through its platform during the same period. At the beginning of the year, Stripe’s market valuation reached $ 159 billion, making the company one of the most valuable fintech firms in the world.

There has been no official response from PayPal yet. Stripe and Advent International are also declining to comment on the potential deal.
