The founder of Ethereum has created an anonymous platform powered by artificial intelligence

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, built a prototype of an anonymous bulletin board in his spare time based on the privacy-focused L2 network Aztec. According to him, this was done «just for fun,» but the result turned out to be interesting in terms of the future of private Web3 applications.

The platform’s operating principle is quite simple. A user deposits ETH, posts a message without any link to their wallet or address, and can then withdraw the funds. This ensures anonymity at the protocol level.

The issue of content moderation has been addressed separately. Instead of human moderators, verification is handled by a local LLM model that automatically analyzes posts for compliance with the rules specified in the smart contract. This eliminates the human factor while maintaining transparency of the rules.

Aztec is one of the few L2 networks that focuses specifically on transaction privacy, unlike most Layer 2 solutions, which prioritize scalability and speed. Choosing this particular network for the experiment appears to be a deliberate demonstration of its capabilities.

For now, this is just an early prototype with no plans for a full-scale launch. However, the experiment itself shows what the next generation of private decentralized applications might look like, where anonymity and automated moderation coexist at the code level.
