The most powerful artificial intelligence was asked to hack a Bitcoin wallet
Mike Belshe, CEO of the crypto custodian BitGo, has publicly challenged the artificial intelligence developer Anthropic. In a post on X, he stated that he had deposited funds into his company’s wallet and invited Anthropic to «take them.»
According to Belcher, the wallet holds 100 BTC. In this way, he is challenging the company to prove the true capabilities of its technology not just in words, but in practice.
The BitGo CEO accompanied his challenge with a critical comment directed at Anthropic. In his view, the company either does a poor job of building isolated environments for its models to operate in, or it does a very good job of promoting them—or perhaps both statements are true at the same time.
Belshe’s challenge is a response to Anthropic’s marketing claims regarding the capabilities of its AI agents, particularly in the context of autonomously performing tasks in a digital environment. Such public tests are becoming an increasingly popular way to verify the bold promises made by technology companies.
As of this writing, Anthropic has not responded to the proposal or publicly accepted the challenge.
