A British man recovered 61 bitcoins that he had lost 15 years ago

A British man named Chris was unable to access his bitcoins for years after purchasing them in 2011 through the Intersango exchange, which later ceased operations. When the platform shut down, he also lost access to 61 BTC.

For 12 years, he tried to resolve the issue on his own, but to no avail. It wasn’t until 2026 that he decided to hire lawyers—and that step proved decisive. The experts helped him recover the coins through legal channels.

When Chris bought the bitcoins, he spent about $ 5,400. Today, those same 61 BTC are worth approximately $ 5 million—meaning his investment has grown nearly a thousandfold.

He plans to sell some of the coins. With the first proceeds, he wants to buy a bigger house for his family.
