Cryptocurrency miner mined a Bitcoin block and received $ 200,000

12:46 pm, April 30, 2024

on April 28, a user of the ckpool pool designed for single Bitcoin miners BTC $61,526.69 Bitcoin -2.32% Market capitalization $1.22 trillion VOL. 24 hours $2.67 billion mined block 841,286 and received a reward of 3,125 BTC. According to Kon Kolivas, the developer and administrator of the ckpool pool, this is the 282nd block of the Bitcoin network mined by an individual miner.

Kolivas said that at the time of the block validation, the total capacity of the individual miner’s equipment was 120 PH/s, but on average, the miner produced about 12 PH/s per week, which is about 0.02% of the total network capacity.

Apparently, the miner rented additional capacity, which helped him mine the Bitcoin block. Kon Kolivas also said that it seems that the miner who mined the block has recently switched from mining as part of traditional pools to working alone. Perhaps, regular mining turned out to be unprofitable for him after another halving and he decided to try his luck in solo mining.

Earlier, we told you that in January, a lone miner managed to mine an entire block of bitcoin using equipment with a hashing capacity of only 10 TH/s. The situation is unique in that it is almost impossible to mine BTC with such a capacity — under normal circumstances, one block of bitcoin should be mined once every 500 years.
