Internet users will receive cryptocurrency for viewing ads in browsers

5:30 pm, September 14, 2022

The startup Slice has integrated payments in BTC into an extension for Internet browsers. Thus, users will be able to earn cryptocurrency while watching ads or surfing the web. The free Slice extension works with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Brave browsers.

The advanced extension is based on the technology of Zebedee, a startup that develops bitcoin payments and uses the Lightning Network. When users browse the web, they will see additional ads. Viewing these ads will earn them points, or Slices, which can then be exchanged for bitcoins through their Zebedee account.

Earnings directly depend on the amount of time spent on the Internet. The Slice website informs that an average user will earn up to $ 5 per month. If the startup’s user base grows in the future, it is planned to increase monthly earnings to $ 10−15. Brave users can simultaneously receive payments in bitcoin through the Slice extension and in BAT tokens through the built-in browser functionality for viewing ads. This way, they can double the amount of rewards they receive, but also see twice as many ads.

Earlier we reported that the Norwegian company Opera has added support for MetaMask and other leading cryptocurrency wallets to its Opera Crypto browser ahead of The Merge merger with Ethereum. Users will be able to choose the wallet they want right in the address bar using the Wallet Selector feature. The solution automates the process of switching between applications when exchanging tokens or conducting transactions.
