Solana blockchain users launch DDoS attacks on each other
Duo Nine analyst claims that there is a hidden war between the main crypto projects on the Solana blockchain SOL $189.03 Solana 6.22% Market capitalization $90.63 billion VOL. 24 hours $0.77 billion , which even ordinary members of the crypto community — potential victims of the confrontation — are not aware of. According to him, users may not be able to conduct transactions on the network due to the conflict.
The analyst believes that major players are launching DDoS attacks against each other to get priority in adding their transactions to the cryptocurrency blockchain. As a result, users of the projects targeted by competitors cannot make a transaction because the attacking party takes up all the space in the blocks.
Delays in transactions can lead to network disruptions. The reputation of the project targeted by such attacks may also suffer. As a result, users of the problematic platforms may decide to switch to competitors' sites.
Duo Nine also noted that more than 100 bot wallets can attack Solana crypto wallets using spam. To do this, the attacker bombards the victim with transactions with a minimum number of SOL coins. In this case, the analyst confidently asserts, the wallet owner loses the ability to transfer assets, as the attacker fills the entire block space with spam transactions.
According to Duo Nine, victims of attacks create new wallets, but this does not help, as a fresh address also risks becoming a target of a spam attack.
«A specific Solana wallet can be attacked with spam from over 100 different bot wallets. You attack it every second with the smallest Solana block… Since each block will be filled with received transactions, this wallet cannot send any transactions! It is effectively unusable,» Duo Nine said.
Questions to the network arose in the spring of 2024 due to the hype around Solana meme coins. The interest in these altcoins prompted an analysis of their security. In April, Blockaid analysts found that half of the previous token sales on Solana were fraudulent.
