Timothy Peterson has named three factors that will prevent bitcoin from reaching a historic high

In his analysis, he outlined the main macroeconomic and market risks that could slow down or even destroy the current positive trend.

The first factor is pessimistic investor sentiment. According to the UMich and AAII surveys, consumer and investment expectations are currently at a very low level. In particular, only 20% of investors consider the market bullish, while 60% are bearish. This difference, according to Peterson, is a serious barrier to further growth of risky assets, including cryptocurrencies.

The second risk is the actions of the US Federal Reserve. The market is already expecting at least three rate cuts by the end of 2025. It is these expectations that fuel the growth of Bitcoin. However, if the Fed does not implement these plans — due to new economic data or political considerations — the market may react with a sharp cooling, which will lead to a decrease in liquidity and interest in speculative assets.

The third factor is «event risk,» or unexpected global shocks that cannot be predicted or modeled. Examples include major terrorist attacks, nuclear accidents, cyberattacks on financial systems, or new pandemics. In such circumstances, the analyst says, Bitcoin behaves like a «high-beta asset» — it fluctuates greatly, is subject to massive sell-offs and loss of investor confidence.

Despite all the warnings, Bitcoin is currently trading within an established corridor, fluctuating between $ 93,750 and $ 95,000. At the time of writing, the price of the flagship cryptocurrency was around $ 94,376.
