The tragedy with the Titan submersible has led to problems for the technology company Logitech
Computer peripherals manufacturer Logitech has fallen victim to the circumstances surrounding the destruction of the OceanGate’s Titanic bathyscaphe. The vessel was supposed to dive to the Titanic wreck in the Atlantic Ocean and be operated by the Logitech F710 gaming mouse, and this news caused the company’s stock price to drop by 3.6% on Thursday. However, on Friday, June 23, the stock rose by 2.5%.
So far, search teams have managed to find fragments of the destroyed hull of the bathyscaphe, and five passengers have been declared dead. Journalists managed to find out the names of 5 people who were on board:
58-year-old British businessman and researcher Hamish Harding,
48-year-old Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleiman,
77-year-old French researcher Paul-Henri Narjole,
61-year-old Stockton Rush, director of OceanGate.
Interestingly, Stockton Rush is the husband of Wendy Rush, the great-great-granddaughter of Isidora and Ida Strauss, who died in April 1912 on board the Titanic. In his Oscar-winning movie about the shipwreck, director James Cameron showed them as a couple lying in a cabin filled with water.
Earlier it was noted that the Titanic was controlled by a Logitech F710 gaming manipulator, which cost about $ 30. According to The Verge, the use of such gadgets to control complex equipment is not an exclusive practice of OceanGate, they are even used by the US Navy and Elon Musk’s The Boring Company.
At the time of writing, Logitech shares have practically not slipped — the charts show -0.030%, they are available for purchase at CHF 49.90.
